The International Pleuropulmonary Blastoma Registry
Who Should Treat PPB?
As with all pediatric cancers, the treatment of PPB should be managed at a pediatric cancer hospital by a team of experienced pediatric cancer specialists: oncologists, surgeons, radiation therapists, nurses, nurse practitioners, and social workers. It is the oncologists who are responsible for chemotherapy. If a child lives a long distance from a pediatric cancer center, some of the therapy may be given and certainly much of the monitoring after chemotherapy can be handled by home-town medical personnel under the guidance of the cancer center.

The PPB Registry will try to answer reasonable questions from families, but we will constantly refer you back to your local team for their recommendations and for decision making. We do not believe we are any better at delivering cancer treatments than any other experienced group. It is most important that every family have a working relationship with their local team. We cannot provide that from a distance.
